Gröna Bandet, our first adventure together
Jeremias and I are embarking on a two month hike beginning at the beginning of June. This is our first tour that we are doing together, and we are very excited to share it with you. This article will give you an introduction to the tour itself, and what you can expect to hear about along the way.
Our tour on Gröna Bandet will cover over 1300 km, over 800 miles, and we plan that it will take about 2 months. Others who have already completed the tour will be our examples. We will use their tours to plan where we will send food to restock our packs, and gain information about the trail from their notes. Trails notes can be very useful for things like, ‘when you reach the intersection the trail marker has been turned the wrong way.’ This will help us to avoid Looney Toons like problems that other hikers have already faced. However, if we have learned anything from previous jobs and tours, it is that we have to learn by doing! You can read and study and prepare all you want, but the only way to truly know is to dive right in. We too will face our own set of struggles, obstacles, and mishaps.
When we initially began planning this tour we were doing it just for ourselves. But when we began seeking sponsorship we needed to sell ourselves. So we thought about what this hike means to us. We are two backcountry guides I am a dog mushing guide and Jeremias is a snowmobile guide. Part of our job is making the wilderness accessible to everyone. Most of our guests have never been dog mushing or driven a snowmobile before, but we give them the tools to both partake in the activity and learn from it. By doing this hike we hope to show people that enjoying the outdoors does not require a complete lifestyle change. You can take a thirty minute walk in the forest with a friend or enjoy a cup of coffee by the river, it doesn’t need to be more complicated than that. With our hike we would like to show people the simplicity of being in the outdoors.
During our trip we will update you along the way with stories of our adventure. After the hike we plan to release a short documentary about the tour.
STAY TUNED!
