DIY - Camera bag zipper repair

I've been looking for a toploaded bag to bring for our Gröna Bandet Hike. The reason I want a toploaded bag is because it makes it possible for me to attach it to my shoulderstraps on my backpack so it sits safe and secure on my chest.

And they are lightweight enough and have just the space I need for my camera and the accessories.

Luckily enough we found a Lowepro TLZ 1 bag for 20$ at the used gear section of the store. We were even luckier when we saw that the zipper was a little bit broken and because of that we got it for only 10$ (about 80 SEK).

It still good to use, but to make the zipper last longer something had to be done.

The problem is showed in the red circle.

The problem was a split tooth so to change the whole zipper wasn't necessary. The only thing I had to do was to get some glue in the split and pinch it together.

The tools I needed for this project:

- Needle Nose Plier

- Glue

- Needle

The tools I used.

Apply it carefully. You don't want glue all over your zipper.

Mix the glue one-to-one. And since you only need a needle tips worth of glue you don't need to mix a lot at all.

Be careful when applying the glue in to the split, don't put to much or you'll have it all over your zipper and that could cause a bigger problem than this.

Make sure you pinch it so it gets the same typ of shape as the other teeths. And don't pinch it to hard or you'll break it even more.

Pinch it carefully after applying glue

Let it sit for a while and let the glue work its magic and you'll have a zipper that works fine again.
